National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), with support from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India has launched the fourth phase of Solid Waste Management Exposure Workshops under Swachh Bharat Mission [Urban], for capacity building of 800 Urban Local Bodies in India on SWM. Feedback Foundation (FF), being one of the selected training partners, was entrusted with the task of conducting 4 such exposure workshops, 2 each at Nawanshahr (Punjab) and Dungarpur (Rajasthan) for officials of ULBs of Punjab Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan. 180 officials from 106 ULBs have been trained in the said 4 workshops.

FF was first to complete all the workshops among the selected 11 training partners. NIUA further awarded FF with 3 additional workshops to be conducted for officials of another 60 ULBs of Punjab and Haryana. These workshops are to be conducted at Haridwar and Almora in Uttarakhand and Ferozepur in Punjab in February 2020. The objective of these workshops is to enable the ULBs to recognize the issues in SWM, understand relevant rules and policies and enable effective implementation of solutions prior to Swachh Survekshan. The concepts of ODF, ODF++ and Star rating for Garbage-Free cities are also covered as part of these workshops.
