A one-day district level orientation workshop on Crop Residue Management [CRM] was led by Mr. Ajay Sinha, CEO of Feedback Foundation [FF] on 15 th September, 2021 at Panchayat Bhavan, Gurdaspur. Dr. Birendra Shankar- FF Representative and Ms. Sumedha Kataria Retd. IAS from Haryana were also part of the resource team. The purpose of the workshop was to sensitize the district level stakeholders about the effective use of crop residue and, also about the impact of burning crop residue, so that stubble burning can be averted. The workshop was attended by Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur, Chief Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Officers, Deputy Project Director- Agricultural Technology Management Agency [ATMA], Agriculture Development Officers of four blocks including the intervention block- Qadian, representatives from BDPO office [Qadian block], Sugar Mills and RWSS department, and some farmers who were given agricultural machines on subsidy by the department. Two students from Shriram College of Commerce who are setting up a start-up: ‘From Bio-mass to Bio-char’, were also present in the meeting.
Feedback Foundation is providing technical support to Gurdaspur District in Punjab for Crop Residue Management and the workshop was organized to create an enabling environment towards this initiative. The project is supported by the CSR wing of Godrej Properties Limited.
