One of the pillars of development in making Bhond- A Model Village has been assuring “Employability & Livelihood” to the villagers (especially aspirant youths). The focus this year has been holistic agri-focused skill development program for youths. Sensitization workshops/meetings & interaction has been a part & parcel of the efforts accentuated on this aspect.
To add to such events, on 17 th July, 2019, a session was organized by FF team in the village, which was facilitated by Dr. Mahesh & Mr. Iliyas Muhammad from the Horticulture Department of the district. Dr. Mahesh spoke about the use of improved variety of onion & tomato seeds that requires less water and the yield is 30% higher than the normal variety of seeds used by the farmers earlier. Samples of improved variety of seeds were also distributed to the farmers for testing the yield on ground. Mr. Iliyas Muhammad also did a demonstration on the ground for the farmers present during the session. He further informed the participants that they shall get 40% subsidy on purchase of these improved variety of seeds from the government. 360 farmers who have been issued soil health card earlier this year from the district were enlisted for getting subsidy on purchase of seeds. The session was attended by 40 farmers from the village.
