The Budni Nagar Parishad’s innovative waste management project has made significant strides in transforming the city’s waste disposal system, with objectives to reverse waste flow to landfills in all 15 wards, divert 3657 tons of waste, and scale up the project for state-level replication.
Through conducting awareness campaigns, organizing SBM thematic drives, and promoting waste reduction initiatives, the project has successfully engaged local citizens and self-help groups, while also providing capacity-building support to the CTPT team for efficient waste collection and MRF management.
Additionally, the project has promoted decentralized waste treatment, the 4R concept, and anti-single-use plastic campaigns, ultimately enhancing the ULB’s ranking for Swachh Survekshan. By achieving these milestones, the project serves as a model for sustainable waste management practices, offering valuable lessons for other cities to adopt and replicate.
