A unique Plastic Premier League (PPL) tournament is being played in Indore, Madhya Pradesh to free the city from single-use plastic. Indore emerged as the cleanest Indian city for the fourth time in a row in the Swachh Survekshan (SS) 2020 and is gearing up for SS 2021. Indore is known for its innovative efforts regarding cleanliness. The 19 zones of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) are divided into four teams. The team that collects the most single-use plastics in this 45-day competition will be awarded the PPL Trophy.
Feedback Foundation has been empanelled by IMC as an agency for creating awareness in 3 zones of IMC for Solid Waste Management. As part of this intervention, FF team is mobilizing citizens of Indore to segregate waste in 6 categories viz. wet, dry, domestic bio-medical waste, domestic hazardous waste, E-waste and Plastic waste and to keep separate bins for each category. They are also being informed that they should give their plastic waste to the PPL vehicle and contribute towards making Indore plastic free.
