Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) organised an onsite training programme on ‘Integrated Solid Waste Management’ at AAETI campus in Nimli, Rajasthan, as CSE recognizes that focus on waste management needs to shift to source segregation, material processing, and resource recovery.  Mr. Ajay Sinha was invited as a Guest Speaker, considering the fact that Feedback Foundation is leading and paving the way for IEC and BCC campaigns in India. He took the session on Behaviour Change Communication for Source Segregation on 24^th November, 2021 and discussed various aspects of Source Segregation, which included Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, why source segregation is necessary, categories and levels of source segregation, triggers, process of monitoring and impact of source segregation etc. Mr. Sinha addressed the participants through a participative approach focusing on behavior change communication and experiential learning.

The training was conducted for CSE’s forum of cities that segregate waste [61 cities from 19 states] and was a cross-learning platform for cities across India. The objective of the training was to get a better understanding of the operational features of solid waste management, the key legislative frameworks, and capacity building of all the stakeholders involved.
