Tezu, January 19, 2026: A zonal workshop on Integrated Decentralised Solid Waste Management (SWM) was successfully conducted at the DC Conference Hall in Tezu under SBM-U 2.0. The workshop was organised by the Department of Urban Development and Housing and brought together key stakeholders, including Deputy Commissioners, Executive Engineers, and officials from the Tezu Town Panchayat. The workshop served as a platform to initiate dialogue and strengthen understanding of integrated and decentralised approaches to solid waste management. It began with a welcome and introductory session, followed by discussions on the definition and importance of SWM in achieving sustainable urban development.
Participants reviewed Tezu’s current waste management status along with relevant national and state policies. The workshop emphasised community engagement to drive citizen participation, and highlighted the importance of effective operation and maintenance of Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), including sanitation park models, within decentralised systems and complete SWM value chain.
The workshop marked an important step toward strengthening institutional capacity and promoting sustainable, locally adapted waste management solutions in Tezu and surrounding regions.
