A one-day workshop on Solid Waste Management and Swachh Survekshan-2022, was facilitated by Dr. Puran Singh, Chief [Operations, Finance & Admin.] & Mr. Ajay Sinha, CEO, Feedback Foundation Charitable Trust (FFCT), Gurugram, at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law [RGNUoL], Patiala on 8^th December, 2021. The workshop was organized by Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company [PMIDC], Local Govt., Chandigarh & Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Patiala. The participants included Executive Officers, Chief Sanitary Inspectors, Sanitary Inspectors, and Sanitation In-charge from 33 ULBs, officials of ADCs (UD) of 5 districts. The objective of the workshop was to sensitize the Urban Local Bodies [ULBs] of Patiala, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Barnala, SAS Nagar (Mohali) about various aspects of solid waste management and Swachh Survekshan-2022 indicators/toolkit. The concepts covered in the workshop include understanding waste perspectives, SWM Rules 2016 and its associated Rules & Policies, Plastic Waste Management Rules, behaviour change issues, segregation of waste at source, waste reduction techniques, processing and treatment technologies, decentralized SWM options, circular economy and Swachh Survekshan-2022. The workshop was very enlightening and an eye-opener for all the participants in the workshop.
