UNICEF, Papua New Guinea has engaged Feedback Foundation (FF) for Strengthening the CLTS Capacity of four District Teams of Papua New Guinea viz. Central Bougainville, Nawaeb, Goroka and Mt Hagen. The objective of this project is to improve access to WaSH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) services by helping them achieve Open Defecation Free (ODF) status and improving hygiene practices. As part of this intervention, FF team facilitated a two-day ‘WaSH in School’ Training Programme on 7 th & 8 th August, 2019 in Nawaeb district of Morobe Province. The participants included teachers and representatives of implementation partner, World Vision. Education Director of Morobe, School Inspector, Member Provincial Education Board and Secretary Catholic Education & UNICEF representatives also attended the training programme. Various aspects of WaSH in schools were discussed and simulation exercises were conducted for better understanding of Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) approach. An interactive session was also conducted with the students during field visit to a school, wherein they were apprised about the importance of safe sanitation practices and handwashing technique was also demonstrated. At the end of the 2 day programme the teachers were very excited and action planning was done for making their respective schools ODF.
