Learning and Sharing Workshop on Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management at Malanpur, Madhya Pradesh

Feedback Foundation organised a workshop for industrial waste generators on 18th January 2024 in Malanpur. The workshop was led by Mr Ajay Sinha, CEO of Feedback Foundation, and attended by Chairman, Vice-chairman and officials of Malanpur Nagar Parishad, Official of Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. [GCPL],  executives from 34 industries,  representatives from Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation [MPIDC] and Media. The workshop was a collaborative effort to enhance knowledge and promote sustainable practices, aligning with the vision of creating a waste-free city under Swachh Survekshan 2024.

Feedback Foundation is providing technical support for developing a pilot Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management Model in 15 wards of Malanpur Nagar Parishad (MNP), Madhya Pradesh. The project is supported by CSR wing of GCPL.


A Comprehensive Study on Construction Waste Management in India's Real Estate Sector:

Godrej Properties Ltd. engaged Feedback Foundation to conduct a study to understand the quantum, composition, and distribution of waste generated at every stage of construction. ‘Waste Matters’, is a Godrej properties’ commissioned handbook on better management of construction waste for Real Estate in India’, and the handbook is a product of extensive research carried out by Feedback Foundation. On-ground Research was conducted across 12 Godrej Properties Ltd. (GPL) and 2 Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. (MLDL) under-construction projects in four cities which included Bengaluru, Gurugram (part of NCR), Mumbai (part of MMR), and Pune.

Inauguration of Sanitation Park in Abu Road Nagar Palika, Rajasthan:

A state-of-the-art sanitation park has been created and officially opened in Abu Road as part of the Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management Project, a collaborative effort between Feedback Foundation and LIC HFL. This project is implemented in partnership with Abu Road Nagar Palika in Sirohi District of Rajasthan. The waste generated in 10 wards of the ULB will be treated and processed in this sanitation park, thereby diverting the waste going to the landfill site. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the representatives of Nagar Palika, public/elected representatives, Feedback Foundation team and LIC HFL officials.


Kabad Se Jugad: Transforming Trash into Treasures at the Dhanpuri 3R Park:

The RRR [Reduce-Reuse-Recycle] Park developed at Dhanpuri, is a collaborative effort of Feedback Foundation, Godrej Properties Limited, and Dhanpuri Nagar Palika Parishad. It exemplifies "Kabad Se Jugad." Miniature replicas of iconic structures, crafted from discarded materials, adorn the park. This initiative, led by a dedicated Chairperson, promotes sustainability, attracts visitors, and inspires environmental awareness.


Agra Bike Rally for Promotion of RRR Centers and Sustainable Waste Management: Feedback Foundation in collaboration with Agra Municipal Corporation orchestrated a bike rally with the primary aim of promoting environmental consciousness and emphasizing the significance of the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (RRR) centers. The rally served as a platform to raise awareness among participants and the wider community about the importance of responsible waste management practices and the positive impact they have on the environment. Through this engaging event, the Feedback Foundation aimed to inspire individuals to adopt sustainable behaviors and contribute to building a greener and cleaner future.


'My Life, My Clean City' Campaign in Dhanpuri: Feedback Foundation in collaboration with Dhanpuri Nagar Palika Parishad (DNPP), organized a rally as part of the "My Life, My Clean City" campaign. Led by Ms. Sarita Sharma, the Brand Ambassador for SBM 2023, and Chief Municipal Officer Mr. Prabhat Barkade, the event showcased the community's determination for a cleaner city. Starting at the Dhanpuri Central Hospital intersection, participants marched to the M.R.F. Center, symbolizing unity and dedication to a sustainable future. The rally honored drivers, helpers, and sanitation workers for their crucial role in maintaining cleanliness. Guests, including self-help group members and councilors, joined the cause, pledging their commitment to cleanliness. With the joint efforts of the community, the Dhanpuri Nagar Palika Parishad, and Feedback Foundation, the city strives to become a shining example of cleanliness and sustainability.


Swachhata ki Paathshala: A Workshop for Empowering Safai Mitras in Dhanpuri, Madhya Pradesh: Feedback Foundation (FF) is providing technical support to Dhanpuri Nagar Palika Parishad for Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management at Dhanpuri, Madhya Pradesh. Under this intervention, Swachhata ki Paathshala, a workshop was organized with focus on Capacity building of Safai Mitras for effective waste management and improving Dhanpuri’s position in Swachh Survekshan.


Inauguration of Material Recovery Center in Agra: Feedback Foundation (FF) is providing technical support to Agra Nagar Nigam [ANN] for Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management in 7 wards of Hariparwat zone of Agra. As part of this project a Material Recovery Centre of 20 TPD capacity has been developed at Ward 96 of Agra for managing the waste generated in these 7 wards.The project is supported by the CSR wing of Godrej Properties Limited.


Chakrata to become garbage-free: Brig. Alin Deb Saha, President of Chakrata Cantonment Board [CCB] visited the Sanitation Park and appreciated the waste management work being done in the Cantonment Board. He said that CCB will very soon become garbage-free and appealed to the residents to provide their support towards the initiative. Feedback Foundation (FF) is providing technical support to Chakrata Cantonment Board [CCB] for Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management. Chakrata becomes the first Cantonment Board to initiate Solid Waste Management Process, out of 62 Cantonments in India: Feedback Foundation (FF) is providing technical support to Chakrata Cantonment Board [CCB] for Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management, and organised a training program for sanitation workers at the trenching ground in CCB. FF recognizes that focus of waste management needs to shift to source segregation, material processing, and resource recovery. Mr. Ajay Sinha, CEO Feedback Foundation took the session on Behaviour Change Communication for Source Segregation, which included- why source segregation is necessary, categories and levels of source segregation, triggers, process of monitoring and impact of source segregation, etc. Important features of Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 were also discussed. Mr. Sinha gave a special name “Safai Commandos” for the sanitation workers of Chakrata Cantonment Board and encouraged them to give their best in making Chakrata a clean Cantonment Board.

Bioremediation and biomining of legacy waste at Chakrata Cantonment Board, Uttarakhand: Feedback Foundation is providing technical support to Chakrata Cantonment Board to implement a project on Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management [IDSWM] in Chakrata, Uttarakhand. The scope of work involves bioremediation and biomining of legacy waste, and implementation of IDSWM. CCB is happy to see the progress and is confident that this project will help in making Chakrata a clean.

‘Come, Let’s Create a Clean Palashbari’: An initiative by Palashbari Municipal Boa: Feedback Foundation is providing technical support to Palashbari Municipal Board (PMB) in creating a demonstrable and scalable Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management Model in 10 wards of PMB of Assam for wider replication across the state. The project is supported by the CSR wing of Godrej Consumer Products Limited.


Waste Segregation taking place in just 2 wards [Nathuawala & Harrawala] of Dehradun Municipal Corporation: Nathuawala is one of the only two wards, out of 100 wards in the Dehradun Municipal Corporation jurisdiction where segregation of waste at source is being done and the waste is managed within the ward. Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management Model has been developed at Nathuawala, Ward 100, Dehradun by Dehradun Nagar Nigam with technical support of Feedback Foundation. All the waste generated in the ward is managed in the sanitation park. The sanitation park is highly appreciated and is being visited by representatives from other ULBs for understanding and to replicate the model in their respective ULBs.


RACE Program: Awareness through Nukkad Natak at Greater Noida: Feedback Foundation team performed a Nukkad Natak on 29 th June 2022 at City Park in Greater Noida to sensitize the citizens about the ill-effects of Single Use Plastics. RACE stands for Reduction in plastic usage, Awareness among masses, Circular solution to disposal and Engagement of one and all. The street play was very informative and an eye-opener for all.

International Visitors appreciated the Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management Model at Nathuawala: Government officials from 5 countries visited the Sanitation Park at Nathuawala, developed by Dehradun Nagar Nigam with technical support of Feedback Foundation. The exploratory visit was part of an International programme on Women and Youth Entrepreneurship in Water Supply and Sanitation Development [WYEWSSD] for Trainers/Promoters. The participants understood the waste management process and appreciated the solid waste management model at Nathuawala.


Integrated Decentralised SWM [IDSWM] Model at Nathuawala, Dehradun: IDSWM Model has been developed at Nathuawala by Dehradun Nagar Nigam with technical support of Feedback Foundation. This demonstrable and scalable SWM Model has been developed for wider replication across the state. The Municipal Commissioner, Mr. Manoj Goyal, IAS visited the sanitation park on 31st May 2022 and appreciated the work. He said that the model should be replicated in all the wards of Dehradun Nagar Nigam.


Swachhta Abhiyan at Greater Noida: ‘Walk to Dustbin’ campaign was conducted in Greater Noida to promote the use of designated public dustbins and to avoid littering.


Batala on way to becoming Punjab’s first zero waste city: Batala Municipal Corporation has become the first civic body in Punjab to implement ‘zero waste to landfill’ project in its wards. Towards this objective Feedback Foundation is providing technical support for ‘Implementation of Integrated Decentralized Solid Waste Management in all the 50 wards of Batala Municipal Corporation’. Session on ‘Wealth from Waste’: Commemoration of Earth Day 2022 in Goa: On 23rd April, 2022, an event was organized by Field Outreach Bureau, Goa at Ravindra Bhavan to commemorate Earth Day 2022. Smt. Sulakshana Sawant, President of the Goa State Women SHG Association, inaugurated the event which was conducted in association with Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission. In the event, Shri Balaji Kendre, Vice President, Feedback Foundation lead a session on "Wealth from Waste". Key message conveyed to the participants was, "Don't just throw away plastic waste; segregate and sell them to recycling units."

4-day Residential Training Programme for Jal Jeevan Mission: Feedback Foundation is facilitating a 4-day Residential Training Programme for Jal Jeevan Mission from 4th to 7th January, 2022 for Level-3 [Community level] at Palwal district of Haryana.


Pledge for Safe Sanitation: An awareness programme was conducted in Tapobhoomi School in Sadopur village of Greater Noida on 27th December, 2021. All the participants were mobilized to observe cleanliness and not to defecate in the open, following which everyone took swachhta pledge.


Session on Menstrual Hygiene: A session on menstrual hygiene was conducted by Feedback Foundation team in DAV Public School in Kheri Village of Greater Noida. The students were apprised of key menstrual health concerns and how to take care of oneself, as well as safe disposal of used sanitary napkins. The session helped address key issues regarding the subject which are otherwise left undiscussed.


Inauguration of Material Recovery Facility at South Kaliapani, Odisha: On 30th December, 2021 the Material Recovery Facility at South Kaliapani, Odisha was inaugurated. Feedback Foundation is providing technical support to Odisha Mining Corporation [OMC] for Integrated Decentralised Solid Waste Management in Daitari, Gandhamardan, Koira, South-Kaliapani and Laxmipur.


Best out of Waste: Awareness on environment protection was created through a workshop for school children on ‘Best out of Waste’ in Greater Noida on the occasion of Children’s Day.


"Source segregation Samman Samaroh": The event was organised on 26 th November, 2021 in Amit Gram East, Veerbhadra Railway station, Rishikesh in the presence of Hon’ble Mayor Mrs. Anita Mamgain. Citizens who are segregating their waste and those who are making compost of wet waste at home were applauded. Live demonstration of source segregation was done during the event to explain different categories of waste. Swachhta oath was taken by all the participants at the end of the event.


SWM Workshop in Panchkula: Feedback Foundation facilitated a one-day workshop on Plastic Waste Management Amendment Rules 2021 and Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 in Panchkula, Haryana, on 7 th December 2021. The workshop was organized by Municipal Corporation Panchkula with the objective to improve Swachh Survekshan ranking of Panchkula in the coming year.

Nawaeb expected to be the first district in Papua New Guinea to become ODF: Feedback Foundation is providing technical support to UNICEF in ‘Strengthening the Community Led Total Sanitation [CLTS] Capacity of the Four Project District Teams of Papua New Guinea, viz. Nawaeb, Central Bougainville, Goroka & Mt. Hagen. The objective of this project is to improve access to safe sanitation and hygiene behavior in 200 schools, 36 health centres and 800 neighbouring communities in the 4 pilot districts, by helping them achieve Open Defecation Free (ODF) status and improving hygiene practices.

Formation of Lane Committees is an initiative by Puri District administration, to ensure citizens’ involvement in making Puri the Cleanest Dham. A mass Clean-up program was conducted in every lane on 31 st January 2021, with participation of all lane committees and citizens. Feedback Foundation (FF) has been entrusted with the task of facilitating training and orientation programs on Solid Waste Management compliance by the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Haryana.
